What is transcription?
Plaud's transcription turns your recordings into accurate, searchable text. Plaud supports 112 languages and can auto-detect the spoken language, or you can set it manually. Matching the language to what's spoken gives you the most accurate results.
How to transcribe a recording?
- Open any recording in the Plaud App.
- Tap Generate.
- Choose Auto generation or Custom generation.
- For Custom, open the Audio language dropdown and select the language of your recording.
- Tap Generate now.

What's the difference between Auto and Custom generation?
Auto generation detects the recording language automatically. Custom generation lets you specify the language — helpful for less common languages or mixed-language recordings.
Can I re-transcribe a file with a different language?
Yes. Open the file, tap the ... menu, and select Re-transcribe to run transcription again with a different language setting.
Will transcription start automatically after I record?
Not by default. Tap Generate on each file to start. To automate transcription, set up AutoFlow in the Explore tab.
