Plaud App can automatically detect and label different speakers in your transcript. You can then rename each speaker for easy identification.
What is speaker naming?
Speaker naming lets you replace the default speaker labels in a transcript with real names. When you transcribe a recording, Plaud uses speaker diarization to detect and separate different speakers automatically. You can then give each speaker a name so the transcript and summary are easier to read and share.
Before you start
- Make sure the recording has finished transcribing, so speaker labels appear in the transcript.
- Speaker naming is available in the Plaud App.
How to name speakers from the menu
- Tap ... in the top-right corner of the recording.
- Tap Name speakers.
- Enter a name for each speaker. The names update in the transcript right away. If you rename a speaker after the summary has already been generated, the summary keeps the original names. To reflect the new names in a summary, generate a new summary by tapping the + icon next to the Summary or Notepad tabs.
How to rename a speaker by tapping the label
- Tap any Speaker label in the transcript.
- Enter the speaker’s name and confirm.
Tip: When naming a speaker, choose to apply the name to just that paragraph or to all paragraphs with the same speaker label.

Does Plaud automatically detect different speakers?

Can I rename a speaker across the whole transcript at once?
Yes. After tapping a speaker label and entering a name, choose to apply it to all paragraphs with the same speaker.
How many speakers can Plaud detect?
Plaud can detect and label multiple speakers in a recording. For best results, ensure each speaker’s voice is clearly distinguishable in the audio.
I renamed a speaker, but the summary still shows the old name. Why?
When you name speakers before or during transcription, the names appear correctly in both the transcript and the summary. If you rename a speaker after the summary has already been generated, the transcript updates right away, but the summary keeps the names it was generated with. To refresh the speaker names in a summary, generate a new summary by tapping the + icon next to the Summary or Notepad tabs, which keeps your existing summary in a separate tab.
Can I turn off automatic speaker labeling?
Yes. Open the Plaud App and go to Settings > Preferences > Auto speaker labeling, then toggle off Auto-label speakers. You can turn it back on from the same screen at any time.
