After recording on Plaud Note Pro, your audio is saved to the device automatically. Connect to the Plaud App to transfer files and start transcription.
What is file transfer on Plaud Note Pro?
Recordings captured on Plaud Note Pro are stored locally on the device. Connecting to the Plaud App over Bluetooth triggers an automatic transfer to your account, where files become available for transcription and AI processing. For large recordings, Fast Transfer uses Wi-Fi for a quicker upload. You can also turn on Auto-transfer (iOS only) so recordings sync in the background when your device is nearby, without opening the app.
Before you start
- The Plaud App is installed on your phone and your device is bound to your account.
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- For Fast Transfer: Wi-Fi is also enabled on your phone and both your phone and Plaud Note Pro are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- For Auto-transfer (iOS only): the Plaud App is updated to v3.23.0 or later and your Plaud Note Pro is updated to firmware v1.6 or later.
How to transfer files to the Plaud App?
Open the Plaud App and connect your Plaud Note Pro. Recordings on the device transfer to your account automatically over Bluetooth. No additional steps are needed for the standard transfer.
What is Auto-transfer?
Auto-transfer is an optional feature on iOS. When it is on, recordings transfer in the background as soon as your Plaud Note Pro is near your phone, so you don't have to open the app. Standard Bluetooth transfer still works either way: if Auto-transfer is off, your recordings transfer the next time you open the Plaud App and connect your device.
How to turn on Auto-transfer?
Auto-transfer requires the Plaud App v3.23.0 or later and Plaud Note Pro firmware v1.6 or later. If you don't see the option, update the app and your device firmware first.
To turn it on, open Transfer to App in the Plaud App, go to Bluetooth Transfer, and enable the Auto-transfer toggle. When prompted, set location access to Always Allow so the app can detect your device in the background.
How to use Fast Transfer for larger recordings?
Fast Transfer switches from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi for faster uploads. Use it when you have large recordings and want a quicker transfer.
- Connect your Plaud Note Pro to the Plaud App over Bluetooth.
- Tap the Fast Transfer prompt that appears in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Follow the in-app instructions to switch from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi. Keep the Plaud App open until the transfer completes.
- When finished, the app automatically switches back to Bluetooth and returns to the main screen.
FAQ about transferring files on Plaud Note Pro
Do I need to do anything to start the transfer?
No. Once your Plaud Note Pro is connected to the Plaud App, the transfer starts automatically. You don't need to tap anything for the standard Bluetooth transfer.
Why aren't my recordings transferring in the background?
Background transfer relies on Auto-transfer, which needs the Plaud App v3.23.0 or later and Plaud Note Pro firmware v1.6 or later. Make sure your firmware is up to date, Auto-transfer is turned on, and location access is set to Always Allow. System conditions such as a phone restart or low battery may also prevent background transfers temporarily. You can always open the Plaud App and connect your device to transfer recordings over Bluetooth.
What if the Fast Transfer fails?
Move your device closer to your phone, confirm that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both enabled, and tap the Fast Transfer prompt again to retry. If the issue continues, the standard Bluetooth transfer will still work.
Are my recordings deleted from the device after transfer?
Yes. Recordings are deleted from Plaud Note Pro after they transfer to the Plaud App. You can access them in the app once the transfer is complete.
