What is transcription?
Plaud's transcription feature turns your recordings into accurate, searchable text. Plaud supports 112+ languages and can auto-detect the spoken language, or you can set it manually. Matching the language to what's spoken gives you the most accurate results.
How to transcribe a recording?
- Select the file you want to transcribe.
- Click Generate.
- Choose Auto generation or Custom generation. For Custom, open the Audio language dropdown and select the language of your recording.
- Click Generate now.

Plaud supports 112+ languages. For less common languages, use Custom generation and select the language manually for best results.
What's the difference between Auto and Custom generation?
Auto generation detects the recording language automatically. Custom generation lets you specify the language, which helps with less common languages or mixed-language recordings.
Can I re-transcribe a file with a different language?
Yes. Open the file and use the Re-transcribe option to run transcription again with a different language setting.
Will transcription start automatically when I upload a file?
Not by default. Click Generate on each file to start. To automate transcription, set up AutoFlow in Plaud App.
