Symptoms
- Recorded audio is quieter than expected.
- Voices sound muffled, distant, or unclear on playback.
- Phone-call recordings are hard to hear.
- In a phone-call recording, you can only hear your own voice and not the other party.
- Phone-call recordings sound too loud and distorted.
Steps to try
Before you start
- Confirm the recording type: Note recording or Phone Call recording.
- In the Mobile App, turn off AI Speech Enhancement, then test again.
- Reduce background noise: avoid windy/outdoor areas, loud music, and crowded places during testing.
- Take the Magnetic Case off: remove the Magnetic Case, or any other cover or object that may block the microphone area, then test again.
For Note recording
- Distance check: record within 0.5–1 meter of the speaker for the test.
- Orientation/handling: keep the device steady and avoid rubbing it against clothing or surfaces.
- If the voice is still quiet, try recording in a quieter room and test again.
For phone-call recording
- Earphones check: check whether you were wearing earphones. Plaud Note Pro captures sound through the phone's speaker, so it can't pick up voice when you use earphones or headphones of any kind, wired or wireless. Remove them and retry.
-
Correct placement: when you hold the phone to your ear, attach Plaud Note Pro firmly to the back of your phone.
- Using speakerphone? Take Plaud Note Pro off the phone and set it down next to the phone instead. If you leave it stuck to the back, it picks up the call twice — once through the phone's body, once through the air — and the recording comes out too loud and distorted.
- Avoid contact noise: do not tap, drag, or move the device while recording to prevent scratching/clicking sounds.
- Call volume: set your phone call volume to at least 80% (loudspeaker mode is not required).
- Remove phone case: if your case is thick, remove it and try again (thick cases may reduce audio pickup).
- Update firmware: follow How do I update the firmware for my Plaud Note Pro? to install the latest firmware.
- Try another phone: if possible, test on a different phone to determine whether the issue is phone-specific.
If the issue persists
If the volume or sound quality is still poor after these steps, submit a request and include:
- The original audio file (export it from Share & Export in the Plaud App)
- A screen recording of in-app playback (if possible)
