What a reset does
A reset (hard restart) restarts the device and can help when the device is unresponsive (e.g., not responding to button presses or not reconnecting normally).
Before you reset
Confirm the following first:
- The device is not recording.
- The device is not performing a firmware update.
- If possible, keep the device connected to power and charging (recommended if battery may be low).
Steps
- Press and hold the record button for 12 seconds (do not release early).
- During the hold, the red light may appear—this is normal. Keep holding.
- Release the button only when the reset completes, indicated by the red light turning off (or the device restarting if no light is shown).
- Wait up to 30 seconds for the device to become responsive again (and reconnect in the Plaud App if applicable).
Checkpoints
- The device responds normally after the reset (e.g., reconnects in the Plaud App or responds to button presses).
- No ongoing error state is observed after restart.
Troubleshooting
- If there is no light change and the device remains unresponsive, retry the reset once.
- If it still fails after 2 attempts, contact support@plaud.ai and include: device model (if known), phone OS, Plaud App version, and a screenshot/video showing the reset attempt and device behavior.
