Overview
If you can’t update the Plaud App from Google Play, it’s usually caused by Android version compatibility or a Google Play update/install issue. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Check your Android version
- Open Settings → About phone (or About device).
- Find Android version.
If your device is Android 6.0
- Newer versions of the Plaud App no longer support Android 6.0 as we upgrade core Android components and our SDK to improve stability and security.
- You can continue using your current installed Mobile App version, but you cannot install future updates on Android 6.0.
- To receive updates, please upgrade your device to Android 7.0 or later, or switch to a device that supports Android 7.0+.
If your device is Android 7.0 or later
Continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Note the Google Play error message
Open Google Play and try updating again. If you see an error (for example “Can’t install” / “Something went wrong” / “Incompatible”), take a screenshot—it helps identify the cause faster.
Step 3: Try standard Google Play fixes
Please try these steps in order:
- Check your connection: Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then retry.
- Free up storage: Make sure you have enough free space (at least a few GB recommended).
- Restart your phone: Reboot and try updating again.
-
Update Google Play components:
- Update Google Play Store
- Update Google Play services
-
Clear Google Play Store cache/data:
- Settings → Apps → Google Play Store → Storage
- Tap Clear cache, then Clear data
- Reopen Google Play and try again
Step 4: If it still won’t update
Please contact support@plaud.ai and provide:
- Your Android version
- Your Plaud App version (if visible)
- A screenshot of the Google Play error
We’ll use this information to help you resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
