Principle: minimum necessary
In sensitive environments, default to minimum necessary: capture only what you need, and share summary-only unless full transcripts/audio are clearly required and permitted.
Before you record
- Confirm recording is allowed under local law, workplace policy, and any client/partner requirements.
- Obtain consent when required (and when in doubt, get explicit consent).
- If you're unsure about permission, do not record—check with your legal/compliance team.
After you record
- Prefer summary-only sharing by default.
- Share full transcripts or audio only for a clear business need and only with authorized recipients.
- Avoid posting recordings/transcripts in public or broad channels.
- Follow your organization's retention/deletion rules.
