Overview
If you tap Pause and then switch to another app or send Plaud to the background, the recording may end automatically—this is expected app behavior (not a malfunction).
Why it happens
When a recording is paused, the Plaud App must remain active and open. If it goes to the background, the Mobile App stops the recording to prevent unstable recording states.
What you should do now
- Return to Plaud and check your Recordings list to see if the current audio was saved as a completed file.
- If you still need to continue recording, tap Start Recording to start a new session.
- If you ended up with multiple files, you can merge them before transcription (see below).
How to prevent it next time
- After tapping Pause, keep Plaud open (do not switch apps, lock the screen, or send it to the background).
- If you must leave the Mobile App, tap Stop and save the recording first, then start a new recording when you return.
How to merge multiple recordings before transcription
- Open Plaud → go to Recordings.
- Swipe left to Select.
- Choose the recordings you want to combine.
- Tap Merge.
- Transcribe the merged recording so your transcript is generated as a single piece of content.
If you still need help
If recordings end even while Plaud stays open in the foreground, or if a recording is missing from your Recordings list, please contact support@plaud.ai and share:
- Your phone model and OS version
- Plaud App version
- The time the issue happened and a short screen recording (if possible)
