Auto speaker labeling identifies voices in your recordings and attributes each line to the right speaker in the transcript. Once set up, Plaud recognizes frequent speakers automatically.
What is auto speaker labeling?
Plaud learns to identify voices from the recordings you label, then automatically applies those labels to future recordings. Accuracy improves the more recordings Plaud processes.
Before you start
- Add your own voice profile so Plaud can recognize you in recordings. Other speakers are learned over time from labels you assign manually.
- Turn on Sync speaker labels if you want labels to carry over across multiple recordings.
How to enable auto speaker labeling?
- Open the Plaud App and go to Settings
- Go to Preferences
- Go to Auto speaker labeling
- Toggle on Auto-label speakers. Optionally, toggle on Sync speaker labels to carry labels across future recordings
How to add your voice profile?
- In the Auto speaker labeling settings, tap Add your voice profile
- Grant microphone access when prompted and tap Next
- Name the voice profile (e.g., your name) and tap Next
- Tap Start and speak for at least 30 seconds for best recognition accuracy
How Plaud learns other speakers
You do not need to add voice profiles for other speakers manually. Plaud learns from the speaker labels you assign in individual recordings. Once you label a speaker in one recording, Plaud will recognize that voice in future recordings and apply the same label automatically.
FAQ about auto speaker labeling
How accurate is the speaker recognition?
Accuracy improves over time as Plaud learns from more recordings. For best results, record in environments with clear audio and consistent speaker voices.
Can I rename or edit speaker labels after transcription?
Yes. You can edit speaker labels directly in the transcript view after generating the transcript.
Does auto speaker labeling work in all languages?
Auto speaker labeling works alongside transcription regardless of language, as speaker identification is based on voice characteristics rather than spoken content.
What does "Sync speaker labels" do?
When enabled, speaker labels learned in one recording are applied to future recordings automatically. Disable this if you prefer to assign labels on a per-recording basis.
Can I delete my voice profile?
Yes. In the Auto speaker labeling settings, tap your voice profile and choose the option to delete it.
Why don't I see speaker labels on my existing transcripts?
Speaker labels are applied during transcription and cannot be added retroactively to transcripts that have already been generated. To apply speaker labels to an existing recording, open it and retranscribe with Auto-label speakers enabled.
