Memory lets Plaud remember your preferences and context so Ask Plaud can give more relevant replies.
What is Memory?
Memory is a personalization feature that helps Plaud tailor future replies based on what it learns about your preferences and context. When Memory is enabled, Ask Plaud may use your saved information and your personalization settings to respond in a way that better matches your needs.
You manage Memory in Settings > Personalization. Some profile details may be editable in the Plaud App and view-only on Plaud Web, depending on your product experience. Memory is not a complete record of everything you do, and it is not used for advertising.
How to set up personalization?
Personalization has three sections: Profile, Content focus, and Custom instructions.
- Open Settings.
- Click Personalization.
- Review the three sections:
Profile
Add or review personal details such as your role and industry.
- If you can't edit on Plaud Web, make updates in the Plaud App (Web may be view-only).
Content focus
Tell Plaud what to prioritize in its outputs (for example: "more concise," "more technical," or "action items first").
- This is currently used in Ask Plaud.
Custom instructions
Tell Plaud how you want it to respond.
- You can choose quick options or type your own instructions.
How to turn Memory on or off and manage saved Memories?
- Go to Settings > Personalization > Memory.
- Use the Memory toggle to choose whether Plaud can use Memory for personalized replies in Ask Plaud.
- Manage saved items:
-
Add a Memory
-
Edit or Delete a single Memory
-
Delete all Memories (cannot be undone)
-
Add a Memory
What happens when Memory is off?
- Plaud will not save new Memories.
- Plaud will not use existing Memories in replies.
- Existing Memories are not automatically deleted (delete them manually if you want them removed).
How to add a Memory?
You can add a Memory in two ways.
Option A: In Ask Plaud
Type something like: "Please remember that I prefer bullet-point answers."
Plaud may save it as a Memory if Memory is turned on.
Option B: In Settings (as shown above)
Go to Settings > Personalization > Manage Memory, then choose Add Memory and enter what you want Plaud to remember.
FAQ about Memory
What is Memory?
Memory lets Plaud store helpful background and preference information over time so future experiences can be more relevant and personalized.
What can Memory do?
When it makes sense, Memory can:
- Reference your background information
- Adjust tone and what it emphasizes
- Reduce repeated explanations for faster conversations
How is Memory created?
When Memory is on, Plaud may save information it determines to be helpful in the long run. You can also add Memories yourself (in Ask Plaud or in Settings).
Can I control Memory?
Yes. You can turn it on or off, and add, edit, or delete Memories anytime in Settings > Personalization > Manage Memory.
How do I completely remove Memory information related to me?
- Turn Memory off.
- Select Delete all Memories.
After that, Plaud will no longer store or use Memory content related to you.
Does Plaud store sensitive information?
Plaud is designed to help you stay in control of your information. Memory is meant to store helpful background and preference information (for example, your role, writing style, or recurring priorities) so Ask Plaud can respond more consistently over time.
Your control: You can view, edit, and delete individual Memory items at any time, or delete all Memories. You can also turn Memory off, which stops Plaud from saving new Memories and from using existing ones in replies.
Sensitive information: Memory is not intended for sensitive personal data (such as passwords, financial details, government IDs, or medical records). If you see something sensitive saved as a Memory, delete it immediately.
Model training: Plaud does not automatically use your Memories to train AI models. If Plaud ever uses user content to improve its systems (for example, model quality or safety), it will do so only under the terms described in our Privacy Policy, and where applicable, with appropriate safeguards and user choices.
What are the limitations of Memory?
- Inaccuracies: A Memory may be saved incorrectly.
- Not used every time: Memory won't appear in every reply; a reply that doesn't use Memory isn't necessarily wrong.
Will Memory change over time?
How Memory works may evolve as the feature improves. We'll continue to provide controls so you can understand and manage what's saved.
How can I share feedback?
In the app, you can thumbs up/down replies, or email support@plaud.ai.
