Skills turn your most-used Ask Plaud queries into reusable one-click shortcuts — so you spend less time typing and more time getting answers.
What are Skills?
Skills let you save frequently used queries as reusable templates in Ask Plaud. Instead of retyping the same prompt every time, you save it once as a Skill and run it again with a single click.
Skills are useful when you find yourself repeatedly asking Ask Plaud the same types of questions — for example, "Summarize action items" or "List key decisions." You can create Skills from scratch or save any existing query as a Skill for future use.
What you can do with Skills?
- One-click reuse. Save a high-frequency query as a Skill and run it anytime without retyping.
- Two ways to create. Build a Skill from the input box, or click Save as Skill on an existing query to save it directly.
- Full control. Rename, edit the prompt, or delete any Skill you've created.
- Personalized suggestions. Ask Plaud recommends Skills based on your usage patterns, so relevant shortcuts surface automatically.
Access your Skills
You can access your Skills in three ways:
-
From the suggestion bar — Plaud surfaces recommended Skills based on your recent usage.
-
From the More menu — Click More to open the Skills popover, where you'll see recommendations and your saved Skills.
-
From the input box — Type "/" in the input box to open the Skills popover.
Create a Skill
There are two ways to create a new Skill.
Option A: Create from the input box
- Type "/" in the input box to open the Skills popover.
- Click the + button in the top-right corner.
- Enter a Skill name and a prompt, then click Save.
Note: You can create up to 10 custom Skills. Skill names support multiple languages and emoji, but special characters are not allowed. Names must be unique and within 30 bytes. There is no word limit for prompts.
Option B: Save an existing query as a Skill
You can also turn any query you've already sent into a reusable Skill. Click Save as Skill on an existing query.
In the naming dialog, you can:
- Auto-generate a Skill name (if available).
- Edit the Skill name to something more memorable.
- Modify the prompt before saving.
Manage your Skills
To edit or delete a Skill you've created:
- Open the Skills popover (type "/" or click More).
- Go to the My skills section.
- Click on the Skill you want to modify, then choose Edit or Delete.
How Skills are sorted and grouped?
Skills are organized into three groups, each with its own sorting logic:
- Recently used — Sorted by the most recently created, edited, or used. If you're new or have fewer than 3 records, this section is filled with top picks from "All skills."
- My skills — Your custom Skills, sorted by last edited time (newest edits first).
- All skills — A combined view grouped into Recently used, My skills, and Official, ordered by the recommendation strategy.
Skill limits and naming rules
- Skill limit. You can have up to 10 custom Skills at a time. Delete an existing Skill if you need to create a new one.
- Naming rules. Skill names support multiple languages and emoji, but special characters are not allowed. Names must be unique and no longer than 30 bytes.
- No prompt length limit. You can write prompts of any length, so feel free to be as detailed as you need.
- Skills are personal. Skills you create are only visible to you. Other users cannot see or use your custom Skills.
FAQ about Skills
I can't see Skills when I type "/" or click "More." What's wrong?
You may be on an older version of Plaud Web. Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache, then try again.
"Save as Skill" isn't working.
You've likely reached the 10 custom Skills limit. Go to My skills, delete a Skill you no longer need, then try saving again.
I can't save my Skill name.
Make sure the name meets all three requirements: it must be unique among your custom Skills, within 30 bytes, and free of unsupported special characters (emoji are fine).
The Skills order doesn't match what I expect.
The sorting differs by section. "Recently used" is sorted by the most recent create, edit, or use action, while "My skills" is sorted purely by last edited time. If you recently used a Skill but didn't edit it, it will move up in "Recently used" but stay in place under "My skills."
