What is auto and custom generation?
Select between two distinct modes when generating a summary in Plaud Web:
- Auto generation: Plaud AI automatically determines your template, model, and language to extract insights instantly.
- Custom generation: Manually select your exact template, AI model, and audio language.
When to use each mode
- Auto generation: Best for instant extraction. Plaud structures your everyday recordings using optimized default settings.
- Custom generation: Best for precise control. Manually apply specific templates, select AI models, or adjust the audio language.
How to select your generation mode?
Navigate to the Generate page to select your mode:

Notes on summary generation
- Consistent AI engines: Both Auto generation and Custom generation use the same underlying models. The custom path simply grants you precise structural control.
- Flexible mode switching: Your selected mode applies exclusively to your current summary. This selection applies only to the current file and does not change your default settings.
- Identical quota consumption: Your generation mode does not impact your transcription minutes. Manually selecting a template consumes the exact same quota as the automated path.
