Symptoms
- You tap Pause, switch to another app or lock the screen, and the recording ends on its own.
- You return to Plaud and find a saved file instead of a paused recording.
This is expected behavior, not a malfunction. A paused recording needs the Plaud App to stay active. If the app goes to the background, it stops the recording to avoid an unstable state.
Steps
- Check your saved recording. Return to Plaud and open your Recordings list. The audio from before the pause is usually saved as a completed file.
- Start a new recording if needed. To keep recording, tap Start Recording to begin a new session.
-
Merge the files if you have more than one. If you ended up with separate files, merge them before transcription:
- Open Plaud and go to Recordings.
- Swipe left to Select.
- Choose the recordings you want to combine.
- Tap Merge.
- Transcribe the merged recording so your transcript is generated as a single file.
- Prevent it next time. After you tap Pause, keep Plaud open. Do not switch apps, lock the screen, or send it to the background. If you need to leave, tap Stop to save the recording first, then start a new one when you return.
If the issue persists
If recordings end even while Plaud stays open in the foreground, or a recording is missing from your Recordings list, submit a request and include the following so our support team can investigate:
- Your phone model and OS version
- Your Plaud App version
- The time the issue happened
- A short screen recording, if possible
