Symptoms
- The transcription contains repeated words or phrases.
- This is caused by Whisper Hallucination, a known limitation of Whisper AI, the automatic speech recognition (ASR) system used by Plaud. It is not a defect in your device, and we expect it to improve gradually as the AI evolves.
- Whisper Hallucination is triggered by background sounds, such as music (for example, phone ringtones) or noise, which lead to repeated words in a transcription.
Steps
You can reduce Whisper Hallucination with the following recording habits:
- Record in a single language.
- Avoid recording music.

Reduce background noise.
If the issue persists
If you still see frequent repeated output even in clean, single-language recordings, submit a request and include the following so our support team can investigate:
- Your device model and the Plaud App version.
- The affected recording or a screenshot of the repeated transcription.
- The recording conditions (language, background noise, music).
