Set keyboard shortcuts to highlight key moments and capture visuals without leaving your meeting.

What do the Shortcuts settings do?

The Shortcuts settings let you control Plaud Desktop with your keyboard, so you can mark important moments and capture visuals while you stay focused on your meeting. You can turn global shortcuts on or off and set a key combination for each action:

  • Global shortcuts: when on, your shortcuts work even while Plaud Desktop runs in the background.
  • Screenshot to highlight: captures and saves a visual from your meeting. Default on Windows: Alt + S. Default on Mac: Option + Shift + C.
  • Press to highlight: marks an important moment for later review. Default on Windows: Alt + F. Default on Mac: Option + Shift + H.

How to set up keyboard shortcuts?

  1. Open Preferences using either of these methods:
    • From the widget: right-click the widget, then click Settings.
    • From the main Plaud Desktop window: open Preferences from the app menu.
  2. Click Shortcuts.
  3. Turn Global shortcuts on if you want your shortcuts to work while Plaud Desktop is in the background.
  4. Set a key combination for Screenshot to highlight and Press to highlight as needed.

  5. To clear a shortcut, click the X next to it.

Restore default shortcuts

To return all shortcuts to their original key combinations, click Restore defaults. The defaults differ by platform:

  • Windows: Screenshot to highlight is Alt + S, and Press to highlight is Alt + F.

  • Mac: Screenshot to highlight is Option + Shift + C, and Press to highlight is Option + Shift + H.

FAQ about Shortcuts

Do my shortcuts work when Plaud Desktop is in the background?

Yes, as long as Global shortcuts is turned on. When it is off, your shortcuts work only while Plaud Desktop is the active window.

How do I reset my shortcuts to the defaults?

Open the Shortcuts settings and click Restore defaults. This returns every shortcut to its original key combination.

How do I turn off shortcuts?

Open the Shortcuts settings using the same path you use to set them up: open Preferences, then click Shortcuts. Turn Global shortcuts off to stop your shortcuts from working while Plaud Desktop is in the background. To disable a single action, click the X next to its key combination to clear it.

Can I change the default key combinations?

Yes. You can set your own key combination for each action in the Shortcuts settings.
