Symptoms
- The Plaud App shows "Unable to connect due to the mainland issue" when you bind or connect a device.
- A device purchased in mainland China won't bind to the international Plaud App.
Steps
- Check whether your device is a China (CN) version
Find the serial number (SN) on the device packaging or in the Plaud App during binding. This rule applies to all models: Plaud Note, Plaud Note Pro, Plaud NotePin, and Plaud NotePin S.
- If your SN contains the letter A (usually the 5th character, sometimes at the end), your device is a CN version.
- If your SN contains the letter B, your device is a Global version.
- If your SN is all numbers with no letter, it's from an older production batch. You can't tell the version from the SN. Skip to the last step and send us your SN, and we'll check it for you.
- Use the app that matches your device version
Devices connect and bind through the Plaud App only. CN version devices work only with the China region Plaud App, and Global version devices work only with the international Plaud App. This is a regional design based on local regulations, not a device fault. Bluetooth or permission troubleshooting won't resolve this error.
- CN version device: download the China region app at app.plaud.cn/download.
- Global version device: use the international Plaud App.
- Reach the China region team for account and data help
If you have a CN version device, email support@plaud.cn. The China region team can help you set up the right account, migrate your data, and assist with membership questions.
If the issue persists
Submit a request and include the following so our support team can investigate:
- Your device serial number

- The Plaud App version you're using
