This update does not change your current subscription price or transcription allowance. It adds two separate meters. Recording doesn't use transcription minutes or Plaud Credits, your plan's transcription minutes still cover the first transcription and its default summary, and the built-in Re-summarize is free. Plaud Credits are new: they power the Plaud Agent, including redoing a summary through the Agent. On launch day, every account also receives a one-time grant of free Plaud Credits, valid for 3 months, so you can try the Agent at no additional cost using those Credits.
What changes on launch day
Here's what you'll see in your account when New Plaud Intelligence goes live:
- A welcome screen confirms your plan is active, with your minutes unchanged.
- A Credits, an extra gift message shows your one-time grant of free Plaud Credits and its expiration date. The grant amount depends on your plan and will be shown in your account when issued. The Preview credit-grant campaign ends on December 31, 2026, and each grant remains valid for 3 months from its grant date. See Does upgrading change my subscription? for the details.
- Your Plaud Credits balance appears in your account, separate from your transcription minutes.
That's it. The update and the one-time grant of Plaud Credits do not create an additional charge, and your existing subscription billing continues as usual.
What still runs on your minutes
Your monthly transcription minutes work the same as before. They cover first-time transcription (112 languages), speaker labels, the default AI summary, and the auto action items that come with it. Your minutes still reset monthly with your plan.
What's free
Re-transcribing, the built-in Re-summarize (regenerating the default summary), recording, importing audio, AI speech enhancement, folders, sharing, exporting, merging recordings, and setting up connections cost nothing. They use no minutes and no Plaud Credits.
What uses Plaud Credits
Plaud Credits power the Plaud Agent: Ask Plaud, web research, creating and editing Artifacts, Routines, Skills, taking action in your connected tools, and re-summarizing through the Agent (a rewrite, a different angle, or a different template). The cost of each action depends on the length and complexity of the task, and you can review your daily Plaud Credits usage, broken down by category, on the Plaud Credits page. For the full breakdown, see What are Plaud Credits?.
Where to check your balance
Open the Plaud Credits page from your account. Your balance displays as a remaining percentage with a progress bar, along with a Balance breakdown listing each grant or pack with its own expiration date, and your day-by-day Usage history. Plaud notifies you before you run low.
FAQ about launch day billing
Will I be charged anything on launch day?
The update and the one-time grant of Plaud Credits do not create an additional charge, and your existing subscription billing continues as usual. Any additional purchase of Plaud Credits or transcription minutes requires your confirmation.
Do my free Plaud Credits expire?
Yes. Granted Plaud Credits are a one-time gift, valid for 3 months from the date you receive them, and they don't refill monthly. The Balance breakdown shows the exact date. What resets each month is your plan's transcription minutes, not your Plaud Credits.
Does my first transcription use Plaud Credits?
No. First-time transcription and the default summary run on your transcription minutes. Asking the Agent to redo the summary is different: a rewrite, a different angle, or a different template is an Agent action and uses Plaud Credits.
What happens when my Plaud Credits run out?
When your available Plaud Credits run out, you'll need additional Plaud Credits to continue using Credit-powered Agent features. Transcription and default automatic summaries continue under your current plan. See Top up Plaud Credits and what happens when they run out.
Do minute packs change?
No. You can still buy minute packs from 120 to 6,000 minutes. They're added instantly and stay valid for 2 years from purchase.
Does upgrading, downgrading, or cancelling affect my Plaud Credits?
During the Preview credit-grant campaign, upgrading takes effect immediately and grants that plan's Plaud Credits once. Each tier's grant is issued only once, so it isn't re-granted for a tier you already reached. Downgrading takes effect at your next billing cycle, only your monthly minutes change, and no Plaud Credits are granted for the lower tier. Whether you downgrade or cancel your subscription, Plaud Credits you already received aren't taken back; they stay in your account until they expire. See Does upgrading change my subscription?.
