Plaud Credits pay for the tasks Plaud Agent carries out for you in Ask Plaud's Work mode, such as creating a document or taking action in a connected tool. Chat mode, recording, transcription, and summaries don't use Plaud Credits.
What are Plaud Credits?
Plaud Credits measure the work Plaud Agent does for you. Ask Plaud has two modes: Chat answers questions about your recordings, and Work has Plaud Agent create or do something for you, such as a document, a Routine, or an action in another tool. Only Work mode uses Plaud Credits. Your Plaud Credits are separate from your plan's transcription minutes.
What uses Plaud Credits, and what doesn't
- Uses Plaud Credits (Work mode): tasks Plaud Agent carries out in Work mode, such as creating and editing Artifacts (PDF, PPTX, DOCX, and more), running Skills and Skill Suites, Routines and scheduled tasks, and taking action in your other tools.
- Uses transcription minutes, not Plaud Credits: first-time transcription (112 languages), speaker labels, the default AI summary, and the auto action items that come with it.
- Free, with no minutes and no Plaud Credits: asking questions in Chat mode, re-transcribing, the built-in Re-summarize, generating a summary with a template (including switching templates or creating a New note), recording and importing audio, AI speech enhancement, folders, sharing, exporting, and setting up connections such as Google Calendar, Slack, and Notion.
Do I need to pay for Plaud Credits?
Not to get started. Every account receives a one-time grant of free Plaud Credits, shown as Trial credits, so you can try Work mode at no additional cost. The grant amount depends on your plan; see Does upgrading change my subscription? for the details. Buying more Plaud Credits is optional.
How much does one Work task cost?
It depends on the length and complexity of the task; there is no fixed per-action price. You can review how many Plaud Credits you use each day in Usage history on your Plaud Credits details page.
Where do I check my Plaud Credits balance and usage?
Your Plaud Credits balance shows in your account on every platform, separate from your transcription minutes. The balance displays as a remaining percentage with a progress bar, and it updates right after each task:
- Plaud Mobile App: open the side menu and tap your profile at the top. Your remaining balance shows on your membership page. Tap it to open the Credits page.
- Plaud Web and Plaud Desktop: your remaining balance shows at the bottom of the side navigation. See Plaud Credits and your plan on Plaud Web and Plaud Credits and your plan on Plaud Desktop.
Your Plaud Credits details page shows a Balance breakdown that lists each grant or pack with its own expiration date:
- Trial credits: the one-time Plaud Credits granted with your plan. They aren't related to the free trial of a paid plan. They are valid for 3 months from the day you update to the new Plaud Mobile App and don't renew monthly. What resets each month is your plan's transcription minutes, not your Plaud Credits.
- Plaud Credits packs: Plaud Credits you purchase as top-up packs. They are valid for 1 year from purchase.
Your day-by-day Plaud Credits spending is listed in Usage history. Chat conversations don't appear in Usage history. Plaud also sends a monthly usage summary by email, and notifies you when your balance runs low. For step-by-step instructions, see How do I view my Plaud Credits details? — for v4.0.x or later.
What happens when my Plaud Credits run out?
You'll need additional Plaud Credits to keep using Work mode. Chat mode, transcription, and default automatic summaries continue under your current plan. See Top up Plaud Credits and what happens when they run out.
Example: a 30-minute meeting
- Transcribing the 30-minute recording uses 30 transcription minutes. The default summary is included.
- You re-transcribe, tap Re-summarize, or switch to a different summary template: no minutes, no Plaud Credits.
- In Chat, you ask, "What did the client say about pricing?": no Plaud Credits.
- In Work, you ask, "Turn the action items into a project plan document and send it to Notion": this Work task uses Plaud Credits.
FAQ about Plaud Credits
Does Chat mode use Plaud Credits?
No. In Chat mode, Ask Plaud answers questions about your recordings, searches the web, and checks your connected Google Calendar without using Plaud Credits. When a request needs Work mode, such as creating a file, running a Skill, or setting up a Routine, Plaud tells you, and you can start a new conversation in Work mode.
Does re-transcribing or re-summarizing use Plaud Credits?
No. Re-transcribing, the built-in Re-summarize, and generating a summary with a template, including switching templates or creating a New note, use no Plaud Credits and no minutes.
Do my Trial credits expire?
Yes. Trial credits are valid for 3 months from the day you update to the new Plaud Mobile App. Plaud Credits that come with a Plaud One Explorer Edition pre-order are valid for 12 months from activation.
