Plaud Credits power the Plaud Agent; minutes cover transcription and summaries. Recording does not use transcription minutes or Plaud Credits. Your plan's transcription minutes cover the first transcription and its default summary, and the built-in Re-summarize is free. Plaud Credits come in when you ask the Agent to make or do something new, including redoing a summary through the Agent.
The one rule
Ask the AI to build or do something new: that's the Agent, and it uses Plaud Credits. Turning your recording into a transcript or summary runs on your transcription minutes, not Plaud Credits.
See it in one recording: a 30-minute meeting
- Transcribing the 30-minute recording uses 30 transcription minutes. The default summary is included, with no additional minutes or Plaud Credits deducted.
- You re-transcribe → free: no Plaud Credits, and no minutes either.
- You tap the built-in Re-summarize to regenerate the default summary → free: no Plaud Credits, no minutes.
- You ask, "Draft a follow-up email to the client" → Agent action → uses Plaud Credits.
- You ask the Agent to rewrite the summary from a different angle, or with a different template → Agent action → uses Plaud Credits.
- You ask, "Turn the action items into a project plan and send it to Notion" → Agent action → uses Plaud Credits.
Nothing touches your Plaud Credits until step 4, when Plaud starts creating something new.
What uses Credits, and what doesn't
- On your transcription minutes, not Plaud Credits (the first transcription and the default summary): first-time transcription (112 languages), speaker labels, the default AI summary, and the auto action items that come with it.
- Free: no minutes, no Plaud Credits: re-transcribe, the built-in Re-summarize (regenerating the default summary), recording and importing audio, AI speech enhancement, folders, sharing, exporting, merging recordings, and setting up connections (Google Calendar, Slack, Notion, and more).
- Uses Plaud Credits (Plaud Agent): Ask Plaud, web research, creating and editing Artifacts (PDF, PPTX, DOCX, and more), Routines, Skills and Skill Suites, taking action in your other tools, and re-summarizing through the Agent (a rewrite, a different angle, or a different template).

- There are two kinds of re-summarize. The built-in Re-summarize, which regenerates the default summary, is free: no Plaud Credits, no minutes. Re-summarizing through the Agent (a rewrite, a different angle, or a different template) is an Agent action, and that uses Plaud Credits.
- Setting up a connection is free; the Agent doing something through it uses Plaud Credits.
Do Plaud Credits cost me anything right now?
At launch, every account will receive a one-time grant of free Plaud Credits. You can try Plaud Agent at no additional cost using those Credits, and purchasing additional Credits is optional. Your balance updates right after each action, and Plaud notifies you before you run low. The grant amount depends on your plan; see Does upgrading change my subscription? for the details.
How much does one Agent action cost?
It depends on the length and complexity of the task; there is no fixed per-action price. You can review your daily Plaud Credits usage, broken down by category, on the Plaud Credits page. A per-action reference guide will follow once we have real usage data.
Where do I check my Plaud Credits balance and usage?
Your Plaud Credits balance shows in your account on every platform, separate from your transcription minutes. The balance displays as a remaining percentage with a progress bar:
- Plaud Mobile App: tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner. Your remaining balance shows on the account button at the top. Tap it to open the Plaud Credits page.
- Plaud Web and Plaud Desktop: your remaining balance shows at the bottom of the side navigation.
The Plaud Credits page shows your balance in two parts:
- Granted Plaud Credits: the one-time Plaud Credits granted with your plan at launch. They are valid for 3 months from the date you receive them and don't renew monthly — what resets each month is your plan's transcription minutes, not your Plaud Credits.
- Plaud Credits pack: Plaud Credits you purchase as top-up packs. They are valid for 1 year from purchase, and the page shows their expiration date.
Below them, Usage lists your day-by-day Plaud Credits spending. Plaud also sends a monthly usage summary by email, and notifies you when your balance runs low.

Does re-transcribing or re-summarizing use Plaud Credits?

Do my free Plaud Credits expire?
Granted Plaud Credits are valid for 3 months from the date you receive them. Plaud Credits that come with a Plaud One Explorer Edition pre-order are valid for 12 months from activation.
What happens when my Plaud Credits run out?
When your available Plaud Credits run out, you'll need additional Plaud Credits to continue using Credit-powered Agent features. Transcription and default automatic summaries continue under your current plan. See Top up Plaud Credits and what happens when they run out.
