Plaud App transcribes and summarizes new recordings automatically by default. A preset AutoFlow named Auto-summarize new recordings runs whenever a recording syncs to the cloud. You can turn it off or change what it does at any time.
What are automatic transcription and summaries?
Auto-summarize new recordings is a preset AutoFlow built into Plaud App. It watches for new recordings that sync to the cloud and, when a recording meets its conditions, starts transcription and generates a summary. Results appear in your recording once processing completes, so you don't need to tap Generate yourself.
Before you start
- Automatic processing requires a recording with more than 200 words (about 5 minutes of speech or longer). Shorter recordings sync normally but wait for you to start transcription manually.
- By default, the preset flow covers recordings from all sources with a duration between 0 minutes and 5 hours.
- You can manage this flow in Plaud App only. Plaud Web shows your AutoFlows but can't create or edit them.
How to turn off automatic transcription and summaries?
Automatic processing is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time:
- Open Plaud App, go to the Explore tab, and tap AutoFlow.
- Toggle Auto-summarize new recordings off.
You can also open the flow, turn off the Enable AutoFlow toggle, and tap Done.
While the flow is off, new recordings sync normally but nothing is transcribed or summarized, and no transcription minutes are used. Each recording waits until you tap Generate. Your existing transcripts and summaries aren't affected. To turn automatic processing back on, return to the AutoFlow page and toggle the flow on again.
To control whether Plaud notifies you when results are ready, use the Allow notifications toggle on the AutoFlow page.
How to customize what runs automatically?
- On the AutoFlow page, tap Auto-summarize new recordings to open its settings.
- In the When section, tap Edit to set trigger conditions:
- Keyword: only recordings where the keyword is spoken in the first 60 seconds trigger the flow. Leave it empty to skip this filter.
- Duration: set a minimum and maximum length. The default range is 0 minutes to 5 hours.
- Source: limit the flow to a specific device or upload origin. The default is All.
- In the Then section, tap Edit to choose processing options:
- Summary template: the default is Auto generation, which picks a template based on the recording's content.
- Auto speaker labeling: on by default.
- Audio language: the default is Auto.
- AI model: the default is Auto.
- Tap Done to save your changes.

FAQ about automatic transcription and summaries
Does automatic processing use my transcription minutes?
Yes. Transcriptions started by AutoFlow count toward your plan's transcription allowance the same as ones you start manually. If you'd rather decide per recording, turn the flow off and start transcription with Generate when you need it.
If I turn it off, what happens to my recordings?
Nothing is lost. Recordings keep syncing to the cloud as usual, and transcripts and summaries you already generated stay in place. New recordings simply wait for you to start transcription manually.
Why wasn't my recording transcribed automatically?
Check the following: the flow's toggle is on, the recording has more than 200 words, and the recording matches your filters for keyword, duration, and source. If you set a keyword, it must be spoken in the first 60 seconds.
How is this different from a custom AutoFlow?
Auto-summarize new recordings is a preset flow that ships with Plaud App and covers all recordings by default. Custom AutoFlows work the same way but use your own triggers, templates, and email delivery. AutoFlows run in list order, and only the first flow that matches a recording executes.
Can I turn this off on Plaud Web?
No. Plaud Web only shows your AutoFlows. Open Plaud App to turn the flow on or off, or to edit it.
