Plaud One records with either the charging case or the earbuds. Capture meetings, calls, and conversations wherever they happen.
What are the recording modes on Plaud One?
Plaud One offers three recording modes across two devices:
- Case recording: with the earbuds in the case, the case captures the room with its four-microphone array, up to 5 meters away. Best for meetings, interviews, and in-person discussions.
- Calls & meetings: wearing the earbuds during a phone call or online meeting, Plaud One captures both sides of the conversation directly. Calls can also be recorded automatically with Auto-record (off by default; when it starts recording, a voice announcement informs the other participants). See the FAQ below.
- Media: wearing the earbuds, Plaud One captures the audio playing through them, such as podcasts, videos, and audiobooks.
How to start and stop a recording?
- Press and hold the recording button on the charging case for 1 second, until you feel one vibration. The recording starts.
- Check the light bar: a white pulse means the case is recording, and a yellow pulse means the earbuds are recording.
- Press and hold the recording button again, until you feel two vibrations. The recording stops.
During a phone call or while audio plays through the earbuds, you can also start the recording from the earbuds: press and hold the earbud stem.
What gets recorded depends on what you're doing. During a call, or while audio plays through the earbuds, the recording captures that call or audio. Outside those situations, the case records the room with its microphones, even when you're wearing the earbuds.
How to mark a highlight?
Press the recording button once while recording. The light bar flashes in color to confirm the highlight is marked. You can jump to highlights later in the Plaud Mobile App.
Recording behaviors to know
- Recordings upload automatically: Plaud One uploads your recording to the cloud over its built-in 4G connection as you record, so transcription and summary start right after you stop.
- Earbuds alone have limited storage: if the earbuds lose connection to the case during a recording, they keep recording locally until their storage is full.
- Privacy comes first: when recording an in-person conversation with the case, let the people around you know and get consent where your local laws require it. For calls and online meetings, Plaud One plays a voice announcement to participants when recording starts.
- Recording controls live on the case: outside calls and media playback, you start, stop, and highlight recordings with the case buttons only. During a call or while audio plays through the earbuds, you can also start a recording from the earbuds.
FAQ about recording with Plaud One
Can Plaud One record phone calls?
Yes. Wear the earbuds during the call and start a recording from the case or the earbuds. The earbuds capture both sides of the conversation clearly. Always follow local laws on recording consent.
Which recording mode should I use for a meeting room?
Use case recording. Place the charging case on the table, and its four microphones pick up voices from up to 5 meters away.
Can I start a recording automatically when a call begins?
Yes. Auto-record is off by default. Turn it on in the Plaud Mobile App under Call & meeting options, and Plaud One starts recording when a call or online meeting begins and stops when it ends. For the setup steps and details, see Automatic recording for calls and online meetings.
