If a transcript, summary, title, or highlights show a failed state, a retry usually fixes it at no extra cost. This guide gives four checks, easiest first. An unstable connection during upload is the most common cause.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See Summary failed to generate or missing.
Steps
- Check your connection and refresh: open the file again on a stable connection. Files that failed to upload retry automatically.
- Retry the failed part: each failed section shows a retry option. Retrying a failed generation doesn't consume additional transcription minutes, and neither does re-generating a transcript or summary.
- Check your transcription minutes: if your plan's transcription minutes ran out, generation can't start. Check your remaining minutes, then retry after they reset or after adding more.
-
Check the audio: some audio can't produce every output, and the error message tells you which case applies:
- Recordings with no detectable speech show an empty state and can't be transcribed.
- Content too short for a summary keeps its transcript; only the summary shows an error.
- Content too long for a summary keeps its transcript; open the transcript directly.
- Audio longer than the transcription limit (24 hours) needs to be split before transcribing.
If the issue persists
Submit a request and include the following so our support team can investigate:
- The file name and the recording date
- Which part failed (transcript, summary, title, or highlights) and the error message shown
- Your Mobile App version and device model
