If a recording can't be found in the Mobile App, it is usually recoverable. This guide gives five checks, most likely first: confirm capture, check transfer and timestamps, verify the account and sync, search, and check other devices. An unfinished transfer or a different signed-in account is the most common cause.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See File missing in the Plaud App.
Steps
- Confirm the recording was captured: make sure the device was recording (the indicator light was on during the session). Then open the Plaud App and connect the device so any recordings still stored on it can transfer to your account.
- Check transfer and timestamps: confirm the device finished transferring. Look for a file matching the recording's duration; when a device runs out of power its clock stops, which can shift the file's shown date.
- Verify the account and sync: sign in to the account the device is bound to, and turn on Private Cloud Sync so files sync automatically.
- Search and check usage history: use global search for the file name or content. If the file was transcribed, your storage usage can help locate it — go to Settings > Private Cloud Sync > Manage storage.
- Check other devices and recent changes: the file may sit un-synced on another phone or tablet with the same account; open the Mobile App there on a stable network for a few minutes. Note any recent re-login, Mobile App update, phone change, or reinstall; it's an important clue.
If the issue persists

- Your account email, sign-in method (Apple, Google, or email), and the device model
- The approximate date, time with time zone, duration, and number of missing recordings
- Any recent change (re-login, update, phone change, reinstall), your Plaud Mobile App version, an exported log file, and a screenshot of the file list where the recording should appear
