If your 6-digit code is rejected, your authenticator phone is lost, or your account shows as temporarily frozen, this guide gives five fixes, easiest first. An out-of-sync device clock is the most common cause of rejected codes.
Steps
- Check your device clock: authenticator codes depend on accurate time. Set your phone's clock to automatic network time, then try the newest code.
- Use a fresh code: codes rotate every 30 seconds. Wait for a new code and enter it promptly.
- Switch to a backup method: tap Select another method on the verification screen and choose Email OTP (if enabled) or a backup code (Recovery Code). Each backup code works once.
- Wait out a temporary freeze: five failed attempts within 15 minutes freeze sign-in for 15 minutes, and the screen shows a countdown ("Too many attempts. Try again in …"). The counter is tied to your account, so switching browsers or devices doesn't reset it. Wait, then retry with a correct code. Verification before a sensitive action (such as changing your password or turning off two-step verification) has its own separate counter: five failures freeze sensitive actions for 15 minutes, but you can still sign in and use Plaud normally during that time.
- Recover access without any method: if you've lost the authenticator and have no backup codes, tap Get help verifying on the verification screen and contact our support team. After a manual review, support resets your two-step verification so you can sign in and set it up again.
If the issue persists
Submit a request and include the following so our support team can investigate:
- The email address of your Plaud account
- Which two-step verification methods you had enabled
- A description of what happens when you enter a code, with a screenshot if possible
