Symptoms
- The transcript is in a different language than the audio's spoken language.
- The transcript text contains words that look like incorrect transliterations.
- Speaker labels or AI summary inherit the wrong language too.
Steps
The fix is to re-transcribe with the correct language setting. The button is in the same place on both surfaces — open the recording, then:
- On Plaud App: tap "…" (top-right) → Re-transcribe → pick the correct language → Generate. See Re-transcribe (Plaud App) for screenshots.
- On Plaud Web: click "…" (top-right) → Re-transcribe → pick the correct language → Generate. See Re-transcribe (Plaud Web) for screenshots.
Key choices:
- Pick Custom generation to manually choose the language, or Auto to let Plaud detect.
- Re-transcribing consumes minutes and replaces existing notes.
- Re-transcription doesn't guarantee improved quality — final accuracy still depends on audio clarity, background noise, and speaker volume.
If the issue persists
If the transcript is still in the wrong language after re-transcribing:
- Confirm your audio language is supported. See How many languages does Plaud support for transcription?
- Mixed-language recordings can confuse auto-detection — manually pick the dominant language instead of using Auto.
- Background noise or low audio volume can also degrade language detection. Re-record in a quieter environment if possible.
- The audio may be too short or have too little speech — very brief or sparse audio gives the detector little to work with.

- The expected vs actual language
- A short sample of the original audio (if possible)
- Plaud account email
