Clearly tell participants that you plan to record, state the purpose when relevant, and make sure they explicitly agree before you start.
You should let them know, for example, that:
- A recording will take place using a Plaud device or app.
- The recording may be used for notes, documentation, or another stated purpose.
- They may decline or choose not to be recorded.
If you receive affirmative consent, acknowledge it at the start of the conversation or in writing when needed.
In regulated environments, keep a record of when and how consent was given.
If you receive objection, you shall not record the voice of the person who raises objection against your recording.
