How to set the transcription language
On Plaud App: When generating a transcript, select Custom generation and choose the audio language under Audio language before tapping Generate now.
On Plaud Web: Open the file and select the transcription language before generating the transcript.
On Plaud Desktop: Go to Preferences and set your preferred transcription language, or change it per file before generating.
Plaud also supports automatic language detection — if you are unsure which language is dominant in the recording, select Auto generation and Plaud will detect and transcribe in the primary language found.
FAQ about transcription languages
Does Plaud support transcribing recordings with multiple languages?
Not currently. Plaud transcribes in one language per recording. If a recording contains multiple languages, choose the dominant language for the most accurate results. Mixed-language segments may be less accurate.
Is automatic language detection available?
Yes. Select Auto generation in the language setting and Plaud will detect the primary spoken language automatically.
What if my language is not on the list?
Plaud currently supports 112+ languages. If your language is not listed, transcription in that language is not available at this time. You can submit a request to our support team to express interest in additional language support.
Can I add a custom vocabulary to improve accuracy?
Yes. Plaud supports custom vocabulary — you can add names, technical terms, or proper nouns to improve recognition accuracy.
Does the language setting affect the AI summary?
No. The transcription language controls how audio is converted to text. The AI summary language is set separately and can differ from the transcript language.
