Overview
No. Plaud doesn't currently support translation between languages. The transcription system is optimized for single-language audio.
Why doesn't Plaud support translation?
- Accuracy limitations. The AI model used by Plaud has some translation capability, but its performance doesn't currently meet the consistency standards we require.
- Language consistency requirement. The transcription system is optimized for single-language recordings. Mixed-language recordings or translating between languages significantly reduces accuracy.
- Design focus. Plaud is engineered to comprehend and transcribe audio content in its original language, not to translate between languages.
Workaround: re-transcribe in a different language
If you want a transcript in a different language than the audio's spoken language, you can change the transcription language and re-generate the transcript. This is not true translation — the model isn't optimized for it, so output may be inaccurate or unnatural. Example: original audio in Japanese, desired transcript in English.
Steps
- Open the recording that you want to transcribe.
-
Go to the Language option (the default language is usually pre-selected).
-
Select English from the language list.
-
Tap Generate now to start transcription again. Note: Switching the language this way may produce translation-like results, but accuracy is not guaranteed. Some parts may not be translated, as shown below.
