Overview
Membership prices can differ by platform, by region, or over time. This is normal and reflects how each payment platform sets local prices, not hidden fees. The price shown on your own checkout screen is always the amount that applies.
Why is the price different across platforms or regions?
Several factors set the local price you see, so the amount is not always identical:
- Your country/region and currency. Prices are localized. If your account region or payment method maps to a different country, you may see a different currency or amount.
- Local taxes (VAT/GST). Some displayed prices include local tax; others add it at checkout, depending on the platform and country.
- Platform pricing rules. The App Store, Google Play, and Stripe each set local prices their own way, so the amount is not always identical across platforms, even for the same plan.
- Automatic exchange-rate adjustments. The App Store and Google Play periodically recalibrate local prices based on currency movements. This can change the displayed price over time, independent of any change on our side.
- Active promotions. A discount or trial running on one channel may not be active on another.
Why is the price at checkout lower than the listed price?
If the price shown at checkout is lower than the listed plan price, this is not an error. Plaud occasionally offers a discount to selected accounts, applied automatically at checkout. There is no promo code to enter and nothing you need to do — the discounted amount shown is exactly what you will be charged, and your plan benefits are not affected in any way.
A few things to know about these discounts:
- They are offered to selected accounts only. Not every account receives one, and it is normal for one user to see a discounted price while another sees the standard price.
- They are one-time. Each account can receive a given discount once.
- They cannot be requested, transferred, or applied retroactively. If you completed a purchase at the standard price, the discount cannot be applied to that purchase afterward.
- The checkout price is always final. The amount shown on your purchase screen at the time you subscribe is the amount you will be charged.
Why did the discount disappear, or why is my renewal charged at the standard price?
Because each discount can be used once per account, it applies only to the single purchase where it appeared. This means:
- If you saw a discounted price earlier but did not complete the purchase, the discount may no longer be available when you return.
- If you subscribed at a discounted price, the discount applies to that first payment only. Renewals are charged at the standard price for your plan, which you can review anytime on your subscription management page.
Why doesn't the currency or region match where I am?
For some markets, regional pricing is set directly. For others, the price is determined by your network location (IP) or your store account country. If the currency or amount looks like it belongs to another country, it usually reflects your store account region or network location at the time of purchase.
If you want a specific currency or regional price, subscribe on the platform or store account that matches your region.
What should I do if the price looks wrong?
Refer to the price shown on your purchase screen at the time you subscribe. That is the amount you will be charged on that platform, and it always takes precedence.
If the amount charged does not match the price shown at checkout, contact us at support@plaud.ai with:
- Your country/region and the currency shown
- The purchase channel (iOS / Android / Web / Desktop)
- A screenshot of the price shown at checkout
- The charged amount (receipt or transaction record, if available)
