Plaud does not offer a public API today. If you want your own tools or AI assistants to work with your Plaud recordings, transcripts, and summaries, Plaud MCP and Plaud CLI already do this — no API key, no waiting list.
Overview
This article explains what is available today for connecting Plaud to your own apps, scripts, and AI tools, and where to go if you need a business integration.
Is there a public Plaud API I can sign up for?
No. There is no public, general-purpose Plaud API available to users today, and there is no sign-up or waiting list for one. If a public API becomes available, we will announce it in the Help Center.
For almost every "I want API access to my own account" use case — pulling your recordings, transcripts, or summaries into another tool — Plaud MCP already covers it, and it is available right now.
What can I use today to access my own recordings and transcripts?
Plaud MCP — the recommended option for most people.
Plaud MCP lets AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor read your Plaud recordings, transcripts, and summaries directly. There are no API keys and no config files to write — you sign in with your existing Plaud account, and it is currently free for all active Plaud accounts. Once connected, you can just ask your assistant things like "Summarize Tuesday's standup."
See Plaud MCP for the full setup guide.
Plaud CLI — for the command line.
If you prefer working in a terminal, Plaud CLI gives you direct access to your recordings and transcripts for scripting, batch export, and custom automations.
See Plaud CLI for the full setup guide.
Which one should I choose?
- Choose Plaud MCP if you want an AI assistant to answer questions about your recordings for you.
- Choose Plaud CLI if you want to run commands yourself — for example, exporting a week of transcripts into a folder.
Many power users install both.
What if I want to build my own product on top of Plaud?
If your company wants to integrate Plaud's hardware, transcription, or AI capabilities into your own product or service, this goes through our business channel rather than a self-serve API.
See What should I do if I have Business or Dev inquiry? for how to reach the team.
Can Plaud MCP do everything an API would?
Plaud MCP covers account-level read access: listing and searching your recordings, and retrieving transcripts, summaries, and action items. It cannot record audio, and it cannot edit your recordings or transcripts.
If you need something beyond that, email support@plaud.ai with your use case so we can pass it to the product team.
