Ask Plaud is where you talk to Plaud about your recordings. Use Chat for quick answers, or Work to have Plaud Agent draft, analyze, and deliver finished documents.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See Ask Based on a Single File (Ask Plaud) or Ask Across All Files (Ask Plaud).
What is Ask Plaud?
Ask Plaud is an assistant built into the new Plaud Mobile App that knows your recordings. It has two modes:
- Chat: ask questions about your recordings, search the web, or check your connected Google Calendar. Chat doesn't use Plaud Credits.
- Work: give Plaud Agent a task, such as preparing an interview outline from past conversations or combining several files into one report. Work can create files, run Skills and Routines, and take action in your connected tools, and it uses Plaud Credits.
Because Ask Plaud works from your own files, its answers reflect your real context.
Before you start
- Work mode is measured in Plaud Credits, and every account receives a one-time grant of free Plaud Credits. Chat mode, your subscription, and your transcription minutes are unchanged. See What are Plaud Credits?.
How to start a conversation?
- Tap the Ask Plaud bar at the bottom of the home screen. Or tap the menu button (☰) > Ask Plaud, then tap the new chat button in the top-right corner.
- Choose Chat or Work at the top of the screen. Your first conversation starts in Chat; after that, Plaud remembers the mode you used last.
- Describe a task or ask anything: type it, or tap the voice button to speak (see Talk to Plaud Agent with your voice). Suggested starters show above the input for one-tap starts.
- Tap + to attach files as context, or let Plaud find the relevant files itself.
- In Work mode, track progress in Tasks (☰ > Ask Plaud > Tasks). See Track Agent tasks. You can run several tasks at the same time.
When do I need Work mode?
Use Work mode when you want Plaud to make or do something, not just answer:
- Create or edit files, such as reports, slide decks, or documents (Artifacts)
- Use Skills
- Set up Routines or scheduled tasks
- Take action in your connected tools, beyond checking your Google Calendar
If you ask for one of these in Chat, Plaud tells you, and you can start a new conversation in Work mode.
Choose the right context
- One file: ask about a single meeting.
- Multiple files: combine any set of files into one deliverable.
- A folder: scope Ask Plaud to a folder for faster, more focused results.
For details and examples, see Choose the right context for an Agent task.
