A Skill saves how you want a task done, for the same output every time. Plaud Agent follows its structure and quality bar on every run. Skills run in Ask Plaud's Work mode.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See Skills.

What is a Skill?
A Skill is a saved instruction set for Plaud Agent: what to extract, how to structure it, and what format to deliver. Instead of re-explaining your requirements each time, select the Skill and Plaud Agent follows it.
Skills run only in Work mode, which uses Plaud Credits. In Chat mode, the Skill button and the / shortcut are hidden.
How to create a Skill?
There are four ways to create a Skill:
- Upload a doc or template: hand Plaud Agent an example document and it turns the pattern into a Skill.
- Conversation in Work mode: describe what you want, and the official Skill Creator skill drafts the Skill for you.
- Form fill: fill in a structured form (what it does, when it applies, the output format) instead of chatting.
- One-tap distill from an Artifact: turn a past Artifact into a reusable Skill in one click.
Whichever way you start, review the draft (when the Skill applies and what it does), then save it. Drafts stay in the session until you save them. Saved Skills live in Tools > Skills > My skills.
How to use a Skill?
-
Pick it when starting a task: in a Work conversation, type / and choose the Skill from the list, or tap + and choose Use a skill.
- Let Plaud Agent decide: in Work mode, Plaud Agent invokes matching Skills automatically based on your request.
Your Skills live in ☰ > Tools > Skills > My skills. Tap the + button at the top of the Tools page and choose Create skill with AI or Explore more in the Skill community. You can edit your own Skills anytime; installed Skills from the community are read-only. Connectors are managed separately in Settings > Connectors. See Connectors and permissions.
FAQ about Skills
Can I use Skills in Chat mode?
No. Skills run only in Work mode. If you ask for a Skill in Chat, Plaud tells you, and you can start a new conversation in Work mode.
Can a Skill run automatically?
Yes. Combine a Skill with a Routine to run it on a trigger. See Routines: run tasks automatically.
How many Skills can I have?
Up to 100, including Skills that come inside Skill Suites. Skills sync across your devices.
Do Skills work on Plaud Web and Plaud Desktop?
Yes. Your Skills sync across platforms. For the Web-side interface, see Skills on Plaud Web.
What's the difference between a Skill and a Skill Suite?
A Skill is one reusable instruction set. A Skill Suite is a bundled pack of Skills; the Skills inside a Skill Suite can't be edited or removed individually, so uninstall the whole Skill Suite if you no longer need it.
What happens to my previous custom skills?
Custom skills you created before now carry over to your Skill list for your own use. They're marked as pending upgrade, and you can upgrade them in a conversation to enable automatic triggering.
