If a paused recording ends by itself and saves as a file, your audio is not lost. This guide gives three steps: find the saved part, start a new session, and merge the pieces before transcribing. Recordings run on the Plaud device, so backgrounding the Mobile App is rarely the cause.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See Recording ends after tapping pause.
Steps
Recordings started from the Mobile App are carried out by the connected Plaud device, so switching the Mobile App to the background doesn't interrupt the recording. If a paused recording still ends by itself, follow the steps below.
- Check your saved recording: the audio from before the pause is saved as a completed file in your recordings.
- Start a new session if needed
- Merge the pieces before transcribing: select the related recordings and merge them into one file, then transcribe the merged file. See Merge recordings.
If the issue persists
A recording that ends by itself after you tap pause is worth investigating. Submit a request and include:
- Your phone model, OS version, and Plaud Mobile App version
- The time the issue happened
- A short screen recording if possible
