Merge several recordings into one file, content and audio included. Transcripts, summaries, and notes are combined along with the audio.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See Merge recordings.
How to merge recordings?
- Enter multi-select mode on the Meeting notes list, in your file list, or inside a folder.
- Select two or more recordings, then tap Merge.
- If any selected file is already transcribed, a Merge files dialog asks how to handle the content. If none of the selected files are transcribed yet, merging starts right away without the dialog:
-
Merge and re-transcribe: treats all files as one recording and generates a fresh transcript and summary across the full audio. Re-transcribing uses transcription time for the combined length (the dialog shows exactly how much before you confirm), and a Generate sheet then lets you set Label my voice automatically, Audio language, Summary template, Summary language, and AI model before you tap Generate. To change the template, tap Summary template, choose one in Select a template, then tap Use this template. See Summary templates.
- Merge only: keeps the existing content: transcripts, summaries, chapter outlines, and highlights are joined in order with timestamps adjusted. Untranscribed sections stay untranscribed.

- A progress indicator shows while merging. When it finishes, the merged file appears in your list, and a banner offers Delete original files. Your originals are kept unless you tap it within a few seconds.
Good to know
- Files merge in recording order (earliest first), and the merged file is named after the original recording plus " merged". You can rename it anytime, and its name won't be changed automatically.
- The merged file's date is the earliest recording's date, and it lands in that recording's folder.
- Speaker labels are renumbered across sections so each segment keeps distinct speakers.
- All selected files must be recordings with their audio available on this device — files not yet downloaded show a prompt listing what to download first.
- Files still transcribing can't be selected for merging, and the combined length can't exceed 50 hours.
FAQ about merging
Are my original files deleted?
No. Originals are kept unless you choose Delete original files right after the merge, and even then they go to Trash, where you can restore them.
Does Merge only use transcription minutes?
No. Only Merge and re-transcribe uses transcription time, for the combined length.
