Re-generate a transcript or summary from the original audio for free.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See Re-transcribe.
Before you start
- Re-transcribing doesn't consume transcription minutes or Plaud Credits, and neither does re-generating the summary, even with a different template.
- Re-generating Transcript and Summary replaces the current transcript, the summary, and your notes. Copy anything you want to keep first. Summary only keeps the transcript and regenerates just the summary.
- Accuracy depends on the audio itself. Re-running the same file rarely improves quality; clearer audio does.
How to re-transcribe?
- Open the recording, then tap the ⋯ menu in the top-right corner.
- Tap Regenerate, then choose Transcript and Summary. To regenerate only the summary without re-transcribing, choose Summary only instead.
- In the Regenerate sheet, check the settings. Transcript and Summary lets you set the audio language and speaker labeling; both options let you choose a Summary template, the summary language, and the AI model. Then tap Generate.
- The new transcript and summary replace the current ones when they're ready. You can leave the page while they generate.
FAQ about re-transcribing
Can I keep my current summary and add one in another template?
Yes. Instead of re-generating, tap + New note on the recording page. See Multidimensional summaries.
My transcript is in the wrong language.
That's the most common reason to re-transcribe. Set your primary audio language first so it doesn't recur (see Transcription); if the Mobile App detected the mismatch, use the free one-tap re-transcription from the notice.
Will re-transcribing keep my notes?
No. Notes are written by you, so they can't be regenerated. Re-generating Transcript and Summary removes your notes and any edits along with the old transcript and summary. Summary only updates just the summary and leaves everything else in place.
