Merge several recordings into one file on Plaud Web, content and audio included.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Web? See Merge recordings or Rename, delete, move, merge, and restore files.
You can combine recordings directly from your file list, with the same options as in the Plaud Mobile App: re-transcribe the merged audio for a fresh transcript and summary, or simply join the existing content.
How to merge recordings
- On Plaud Web, open your file list (for example, Home or a folder in your library).
- Select two or more recordings you want to merge. A toolbar appears at the top of the list.
- Click Merge in the toolbar.
- In the Merge files dialog, choose how to handle the content:
- Merge and re-transcribe: transcribes the combined audio from scratch and generates a new transcript and summary. This uses transcription time for the full combined length. Pick your transcription language and speaker settings before confirming. The dialog also has a Summary template row: click it, choose a template in Select a template, and click Use this template. Automatic summaries use Intelligent generation. Learn more in Summary templates on Plaud Web.
- Merge only: joins the existing transcripts, summaries, outlines, and highlights of the selected files in order, with timestamps adjusted. No transcription time is used.
If none of the selected recordings has been transcribed yet, the files are merged directly without this dialog.
A progress indicator shows while the merge runs. When it finishes, you can choose Delete original files in the banner if you no longer need the separate recordings.
Good to know
- Recordings are merged in recording order, earliest first, regardless of the order you selected them.
- The merged file is named after the original file plus " merged", and uses the earliest recording's date and folder.
- Speaker labels are renumbered in the merged transcript.
- Files that are currently transcribing can't be selected for merging.
- The total length of a merged file can't exceed 50 hours.

FAQ
Are my original recordings deleted after merging?
No. The originals are kept unless you choose Delete original files after the merge. Deleted files go to Trash, where you can still restore them.
Does merging use my transcription minutes?
Only Merge and re-transcribe uses transcription time. Merge only is free.
