Plaud One firmware update fails, stalls, or the device stops responding after an update? This article walks through five fixes, easiest first. Firmware updates need a working 4G connection, so start with the connection.
How firmware updates download and install
Plaud One downloads firmware over its own 4G connection, usually overnight around 3 AM local time. If Auto-update overnight is on, the update also installs then. If it's off, the update waits on the device until you start it from the Firmware screen in the Plaud Mobile App. If you start an update before it has downloaded, Plaud One downloads it first, then installs it. See How do I update the firmware on my Plaud One?.
Steps
If the update fails or won't finish
-
Update the Plaud Mobile App
Install the latest version of the Plaud Mobile App, then try the update again.
-
Make sure 4G shows as Connected
Both downloading and installing need 4G. Even after the update has downloaded, Plaud One checks the version online before installing, so it can't install without a connection. In the Plaud Mobile App, check that 4G on your Plaud One shows as Connected. If it doesn't, see Plaud One can't connect to 4G.
-
Charge the case to 50% or more
A low battery can prevent the update from starting or finishing. Give the case a good charge, then try the update again.
-
If the update fails with "Insufficient storage," sync your recordings first
Recordings waiting on the case can leave too little space for the update. Nothing needs to be deleted, and nothing will be lost. Keep the case charged and online over 4G, or connect the case to the Plaud Mobile App so files transfer over Bluetooth. Wait for the recordings to finish uploading, and the space frees up on its own once they transfer. Then try the update again.
Don't use Erase & remove to clear space while recordings are still waiting to sync. That would erase them.
-
Restart the case
Restarting clears the Bluetooth pairing of both the case and the earbuds.
- Place both earbuds in the case and unplug the charging cable.
- Press and hold the pairing button inside the case for 15 seconds.
- In your phone's Bluetooth settings, choose Forget This Device for Plaud One Earbuds.
- Set up Plaud One again in the Plaud Mobile App, the same way you first bound it. See How to bind Plaud One to your Plaud account.
- Try the update again.
If the device stops responding during or after an update
Contact our support team. You don't need to look up your firmware version: our team can check it from your device S/N.
While an update is pending, Plaud One keeps working: the earbuds play music and handle calls as usual, and both case and earbud recording work as normal.
If the issue persists
Submit a request and include the following so our support team can investigate:
- Whether the update failed while downloading or while installing, if you know
- Whether the device stopped responding during the update or after it finished
- A screenshot of the error message shown in the Plaud Mobile App
- Your Plaud Mobile App log (tap the menu icon > Help Center > Diagnostics > Share log; see Export a log file in the Plaud Mobile App)
- Your device S/N (on the bottom of the charging case)
