Auto speaker labeling separates speech by speaker in your transcript. If you add your own voice profile, Plaud can automatically label your speech with your name. Plaud does not automatically identify other speakers. They appear as Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on. You can name them manually, and those names apply only to that recording.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See Auto speaker labeling.
What is auto speaker labeling?
Auto speaker labeling separates the speakers in your recordings and labels them Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on. If you've added your voice profile, Plaud recognizes you automatically. Names you add for other speakers apply to that recording only. It works from voice, not content, so it applies regardless of language.
Before you start
- Add your own voice profile for the best results with your own voice.
- Labels are applied at transcription time and aren't retroactive. To label an existing transcript, re-transcribe with the setting on.
How to enable auto speaker labeling?
- On the home screen, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner, then tap Settings.
- Under Workspace, go to Preferences > Transcription & summary, then tap Auto speaker labeling.
- Turn on Label my voice automatically. This turns on speaker labeling for new recordings: Plaud separates the speakers and, if you've added your voice profile, labels you automatically. When it's off, new transcripts don't include speaker labels, including yours. Optionally, turn on Sync voice profile across devices to keep your voice profile updated across all your signed-in devices. If you turn off sync later, your voice profile is removed from the cloud.
How to add your voice profile?
- In the speaker labeling settings, tap Add your voice profile.
- Grant microphone access, name the profile, and record at least 30 seconds of speech for the best accuracy.
- You can delete the profile from the same place anytime.
Other speakers don't need profiles: you can name them directly in individual recordings. When a calendar event is linked, you can also choose names from its attendees (Plaud doesn't match attendees to speakers automatically); see Meeting info and Speaker Labels.
FAQ about auto speaker labeling
Why doesn't my old transcript have labels?
Labels apply at transcription time only. Re-transcribe the file with Label my voice automatically on.
Can I rename a label after transcription?
Yes. Edit speakers from the file's header; renaming updates the summary too.
Does Plaud recognize other speakers automatically?
Plaud automatically recognizes only your own voice. Other speakers are labeled Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on, and you can name them in each recording.
