Every recording becomes a titled transcript and summary automatically. Your notes are ready the moment you open the Mobile App.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See Automatic transcription and summaries or Auto generation and custom generation.
What happens when a recording ends?
When a recording ends, the new Plaud Mobile App uploads the audio, transcribes it, generates a summary, names the file, and sends you a notification with the generated title. You don't need to pick a template or tap generate.
Transcription runs automatically for every recording; there's no switch for it. The summary step is controlled by the Auto-summarize new recordings toggle, which is on by default.
Before you start
- Processing consumes transcription minutes from your plan as usual.
- With Auto-summarize new recordings off, recordings are still transcribed; only the summary waits for you.
How to turn auto-summary on or off?
- On the home screen, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner, then tap Settings.
- Under Workspace, tap Preferences.
- Under Generation, toggle Auto-summarize new recordings on or off. With it off, recordings are still transcribed; you can generate a summary manually anytime.
How does it work?
- Finish your recording on your Plaud device or in the Plaud Mobile App.
- The audio uploads automatically.
- Plaud generates the transcript, summary, and file title.
- You receive a notification with the title. Tap it to open the finished note.
What gets generated
- Transcript: a full transcript with Speaker Labels, available as Original text, plus a Cleaned-up text version when Clean up transcript automatically is on in Settings (it's on by default).
- Summary: a structured summary with a visual cover page and source-tracing markers.
- Title: generated from the transcript and your linked calendar event, using a consistent naming format.
FAQ about automatic generation
Can I still generate a summary manually?
Yes. Open the file, tap the ⋯ menu in the top-right corner, then choose Regenerate > Summary only. You can also generate a summary with a specific template. See Summary templates.
