A Routine runs your workflow automatically when its trigger fires. Recurring work runs on its own.
Applies to: v4.0.x or later. Still using v3.30.x or earlier Plaud Mobile App? See AutoFlow.
Routines work in Ask Plaud's Work mode, which uses Plaud Credits.
Not sure whether you need a Skill, a Template, or a Routine? See Skill, Template, or Routine? Choose the right tool.
What is a Routine?
A Routine is a rule that connects a trigger to actions. For example: when a new interview recording finishes transcribing, trigger a routine to generate a report with your interview Skill, move the file to your interviews folder, and save the report to Notion.
Tasks a Routine starts appear on the Tasks page like any other. See Track Agent tasks.
How to create a Routine?
Open Routines from the side navigation (☰ > Ask Plaud > Routines), then create one in either of two ways:
-
Create manually: fill in the title and description (type / in the description to insert a Skill), then set the Schedule, Date, and Time. Tap ✓ to save.
-
Create with AI: describe the rule to Plaud Agent in a Work conversation (including when it should run and what it should do), and answer Plaud Agent's follow-up questions. The Routine runs whenever its trigger fires.
Approvals and control
- Each Routine has an Auto-approve switch, which is on by default when you create one. With it on, the Routine automatically approves third-party access and permission requests (including file edits or deletions) without asking you each time. Turn it on only for a Routine you've tested and fully trust.
- Turn it off if you want the Routine's sensitive actions (such as sending an email or a Slack message) to wait for your approval on a Permission Card instead. See Connectors and permissions.
- View and manage your Routines in ☰ > Ask Plaud > Routines, filtered by All, Active, Paused, and Completed.
FAQ about Routines
Can I set up a Routine in Chat mode?
No. Chat can't set up Routines or scheduled tasks. Creating a Routine opens in Work mode. If you ask in Chat, Plaud tells you to start a new conversation in Work mode.
Do Routines work on Plaud Web and Plaud Desktop?
Yes. Routines belong to your account and run in the cloud. For the Web-side interface, see Routines on Plaud Web.
What can trigger a Routine?
A Routine's trigger can be time-based (a schedule), event-based (e.g. when a new AI summary is generated), keyword-based (when a keyword appears), or person-based (tied to a specific person).
