Official skills are built by Plaud and ready in every account. Here's what each one does and how the two workhorse ones work.
What are official skills?
Official skills are built by Plaud and listed under Official on the Skills tab (☰ → Tools → Skills). They're ready to use in every account. Official skills run in Ask Plaud's Work mode, which uses Plaud Credits. In a Work conversation, type / to invoke one, or just describe what you want and Plaud Agent picks the matching skill automatically. Unlike your own skills, official skills can't be edited.
Official skills currently include:
- Skill Creator: creates and edits your custom Skills through conversation; detailed below.
- Use Template: recommends a fitting summary template for your content and generates a structured write-up; detailed below.
- Flash Memo: captures a thought the moment you ask, saved as a file in your Plaud library; it has its own guide: Flash Memo: capture a thought before it slips.
More may be added over time; your Official list is always current. Each skill's detail page describes its purpose and how it works. The paths in this article are the same on the Plaud Mobile App, Plaud Web, and Plaud Desktop.
Skill Creator
Skill Creator is how custom Skills are made: it creates and edits your Skills through conversation. You'll meet it in three places:
- Tap + on the Tools page and choose Create skill with AI (on Plaud Web: + Add skill → Create with AI): it opens a Work conversation with /Skill Creator ready; describe the deliverable you want and it drafts the Skill for you.
- Type /Skill Creator in any Work conversation to start from scratch.
- Choose Edit with agent on one of your own Skills to revise it the same way.
Opening Skill Creator from the Skill list shows its detail page (what it does and how it works).
The draft stays in the conversation until you click Save skill; ask for tweaks in plain language before saving.
See Skills: save your workflows for reuse for what makes a good Skill.
Use Template
Use Template connects Plaud Agent to the template library: it recommends a fitting summary template for your content and generates a structured write-up: meeting notes, patient intake, and more. It works on a recording's transcript or on an uploaded text file (MD, TXT, PDF, DOCX, DOC). Instead of browsing templates yourself, describe the content and let it pick. It runs only when you call it in Work mode; the recording page no longer sends templates to Plaud Agent. The result is saved as a new note, and your existing summary stays. See Summary templates for the template library itself.
FAQ about official skills
Can I edit or remove an official skill?
No. Official skills are read-only and stay in your list. Your own Skills (under Created skills) can be edited through Skill Creator or deleted anytime.
Do official skills cost Plaud Credits?
Yes. Running any skill is a task in Work mode, which uses Plaud Credits.
